@ephesossh @Curator Thanks for the reply! 🙂 So, thinking more, I was also starting to ponder maybe just piggybacking straight on @pixel_dailies but with a different tag could work - so now I see you saying roughly the same I feel encouraged ☺️❤️ so if you're ok with adding an extra tag, maybe something like #art_dailies could work? Then pixelart people could keep using pixelart_dailies as the tag, either adding the new one too or not how they like (pixelart being obviously still art), while others could keep just the #art_dailies one as the widest bag? or even make it #creative_dailies? I could imagine myself then posting e.g. some doodles under both doodle_dailies (a custom ad-hoc tag) plus the generic #art_dailies / #creative_dailies. Someone else could post sculptures or short stories. What do you think?

For people who still believe the GPL influences corporations in a meaningful way:
When I was at Microsoft, I worked on a product that used Linux. The product was cancelled for largely unrelated reasons before it shipped, so the exact details are irrelevant but anything that links Linux needs to loop in lawyers, so I spent a lot of time talking to them.
Maybe 10% of the total time was spent with the technicalities of the GPL. The fact that the GPL is ambiguous and poorly written and the Linux syscall exemption is even worse made me expect long discussions about the legalese. But instead the conclusion of the GPL-focused discussions was basically:
No one really knows what the GPL can actually enforce and half of the stuff that's done with Linux is technically in violation. Microsoft ships Linux images for Azure that come with a click-through license that prohibits running them on any other cloud and no one cares. We can make a convincing argument that this is okay. Only a handful of companies can afford a protracted legal battle with Microsoft and none of them are sufficiently motivated to take us to court over this, so it's unlikely to come up.
The remaining 90% of the discussions were around how the product would be perceived by Linux maintainers, the wider Linux community, and the broader F/OSS ecosystem. Microsoft had put a lot of effort into the 'Microsoft <3 Linux' marketing things. The Ballmer-era alienation of the most active developer communities had cost the company a lot of ecosystem market share. The risk of pushing developers away from Microsoft products and platforms was something that the lawyers regarded as a huge risk. If two of the senior Linux maintainers had said 'we think this is not an acceptable use of Linux' then that would have torpedoed the project instantly.
The moral of this story is that, if positive engagement with your community is perceived as valuable, you have an enormous amount of leverage over big companies. At the

X.Org Server 26.1 Moves Closer To Release As Half-Decade Update
We're getting closer to the X.Org Server 26.1 stable release as the first new tagged feature release since X.Org Server 21.1 debuted back in October 2021. There have been some new features, many code reverts, and many bug fixes merged over the past five years that will culminate with the X.Org Server 26.1 stable release...

Removing Drivers For Outdated ARM Platforms Will Lighten The Kernel By ~247k Lines
The Linux kernel is going to see the removal of a number of recently deprecated ARM 32-bit platforms. Following the deprecation in Linux 7.3, removing the old ARM platforms will lighten the kernel by around 55k lines of code. But removing now unused drivers only relevant to those platforms will mean roughly a quarter million lines of code can be removed from the kernel source tree...

@whitequark for what it's worth, the private-part format is AFAIK taken directly from the "ssh-agent protocol" format that's now documented in RFC 9987
(just because that frankly seems a bit more readable than whatever the heck sshref's syntax is. I've never heard of "uint32 allocator" terminology before o7)
in other words, I *suspect* they reused the existing (de)serializer code, which evolved independently for the public half in ssh proper and the private half in ssh-agent, leading to a somewhat funny combined result

Rustls 0.23.45 Released To Fix Two Year Old Security Issue
While the Rustls modern TLS library is written in the Rust programming language with a focus on memory safety, as we've seen out of other Rust project re-implementations in the past, the new implementations can lead to other security bugs of their own. Out today is Rustls 0.23.45 to fix a security issue introduced back in 2024 with Rustls while the likes of OpenSSL, BoringSSL, and others are unaffected...
