This is why we blocked infosec.exchange today, and this is why we block any instances that we do for racism (our blocklist is public, with reasons, viewable at mastodon.art/about ).

We block instances that have a track record of allowing, and not actioning, racism.

When Black folk tell us repeatedly that they're not safe or welcome on fedi, it's because of shit like this. We have loads of non-white people on our instance and we're putting THEIR safety higher -

- than the pearl-clutching of white folk who get their knickers in a twist about things like 'but spirit of the fediverse' and 'censorship' and  'stifling conversation' (I've even seen someone call us 'terrorists' for fediblocking instances that allow bigotry :blobfoxlaughsweat: ) - no, it's racism, and you either take a stand against it or you're complicit, it's as simple as that.

And before we go there *again*, it says very clearly on our /about page that we block liberally for bigotry -

@Curator if "stifling conversation" means the risk of me having some male chauvinist racist in my mentions is lessened, then please, stifle allllll the conversation lol
