Hey fuck you #Amazon. Making your search default to AI search and not putting in an option to turn that off is fucking stupid. What a waste of resources. I just canceled my Prime subscription because of this.

Amazon has been testing AI for a few months now but it's not currently on for me.  

Their search function has been horrible for ages.  To me, it's their achilles heel, but I digress.  🤔 

Were you accessing via your phone?

It appears AI is built into their mobile app.

A potential solution would be to access Amazon via a third party browser and not use the dedicated app.

There are third party blockers such as Adios Alexa for Shopping on Chrome, Edge, and Firefox

It was first Rufus and now it's just Alexa. Yea, the mobile browser version still isn't infected -- though there are people reporting that Amazon is starting to force web versions of the storefront to default to AI too. I have a year left on Prime, after that it's done. It will probably be a good thing anyways for two reasons.

First, it'll take away the nearly instant gratification of "order now, get it tomorrow or the next day" and that should keep me from spending impulsively. Second, it'll get me to shop at different storefronts and (maybe) support smaller businesses.

I know I will end up still shopping at Amazon for some random stuff, but I won't for all stuff.
