Last week I was on a PCT section in Oregon that covered some fire closures from my 2021 thru. Now I have a connected footpath from Mexico to Canada! I made one plien air painting of this little bird (Canada Jay?) that wasn't afraid of me at all! I'll finish in studio, so, I guess this is in process. I just need to learn to take time-lapse videos and I'll be a hiking art influencer!

How much does your travel watercolor set weigh? What exactly do you take with you? I keep trying to downsize mine for hiking; my backpack is already so full as it is.

@Tini Thank you! Oh no! You have asked me about gear! Long #artSupplies ramble follows.

I find it very hard on to make time for painting on a LASH or thru, so sometimes I only bring a sketchbook and pencil.

The lightest sketchbook I ever brought is a Travelers 013 refill, cut in half. The paper is very thin and smooth, but it doesn't bleed or feather, and you get 128 pages for 1.5 ounces. Add in some teeny tiny colored pencils, A bic plastic mechanical pencil, and the weight is about 2oz. 1/8
