If there's one modern slang I absolutely hate more than anything else in the world, it's this phrase.

"That's so cringe."

Or some other variant.

"That's super cringe. That's cringe."

You get the idea.

I groan out loud every time I read/see/hear that particular phrase online or in person.

I like the phrase, I cringed, so much better.

I have no logical reason for why that "that's so cringe" phrase bugs the piss out of me. I'm hoping Gen Alpha stops the phrase.

Then again, people can't tell the difference between writing styles and writers and journalists, so I should lower my expectations of pop culture.

@WeirdWriter@caneandable.social I believe the term comes from a category of online content that is intended to make you cringe. So it shifted from being something you feel in response to something embarrassing, to being the name of that type of content featuring people embarrassing themselves online, and now ultimately coming to be a noun which describes something which emparts second hand embarrassment.
