Great post and great setup! The argument with the iPhone makes complete sense, for some things you can't avoid big tech unfortunately.
I'm curious, how do you encrypt your data before you send it off to your cloud storage?

@82mhz I generate my backup with backup-manager, and it allows encrypting the generated .tar.gz with gnupg.

I know that borg also encrypts backup repositories.
