Last month saw the release of barebox v2026.04.2, v2026.08.1 and v2026.09.0.

All of them incorporate critical fixes for the FIT support.
Users that depend on barebox verifying FIT signatures are strongly recommended to update: https://github.com/barebox/barebox/security/advisories/GHSA-jhvm-7xq8-rvgm

Apart from that, v2026.09.0 also brought some goodies, among them:

- PXA3xx-based Raumfeld speaker support (pictured)
- Microchip LAN9696 support
- W^X for barebox built as EFI firmware
- Shorter boot times

v2026.08.0 is available! The biggest internal change is an update to the barebox build system, which is based on Linux' Kbuild/Kconfig, but had diverged over the years.

But there's also some user-facing improvements, among them:

- NVMe now works on the RK3588, (motivated by #mnt_pocket support) 
- USB reliability fixes
- Support for 4K block sizes
- EXTLINUX support (in addition to existing bootloader spec)
