@ben The paints are mostly from van Gogh or Schmincke Horadam. As a mixing palette, I clip a 10x10 cm acrylic sheet to my sketchbook. This has proven to be super practical.
Oh oh, I've really gone on and on. Sorry!
I actually find it really interesting to see what people end up packing, what they really need, and what they can actually leave at home.

@Tini no worries about going on, I could talk gear endlessly in person. It's interesting that huts are part of your painting plan. There are very few huts in the Western US where I hike, and I'm a little jealous.

@ben Yes, in Europe’s Alps, we plan our hikes from hut to hut. Some huts are staffed, while at others you have to bring your own food. Some huts are remote and accessible only on foot (the most beautiful ones, in fact), while others are accessible by road. Right now, we hike a few stages of the Grande Traversata delle Alpi every year, from southern Switzerland to the Mediterranean. That’s a total of 65 stages. It’s so beautiful, even if it’s not as vast as the Rocky Mountains.
