@fedicat I get the intention behind it, and I think it is an interesting topic to discus regardless. I guess I personally think there are good uses for "dunking" on things and the idea that everyone must only quote post things for positive reasons is just not how the world works. take for instance the @EUCommission account, most posts there have wonderful qp dunk potential. and you are almost universally punching up as it were.

@fedicat lets say someone quote posts a post my Mastodon about their new redesign, and dunks on it a lot. if you `liked` that post, you probably are not liking the post about the design, you are liking the dunk in which case it doesn't make sense to `like` both

@fedicat you might try some different colors or fonts with it, now you look a bit like the same account as @FediverseSymbol

Having badass typographers explicitly make renditions of the fediverse symbol makes me very happy to see

do I buy a silly domain name that I don't need for 1$ and use it for something random? I don't need it but its so good... maybe domain names were the real NFTs all along

The founder and three senior team members of Zulip are joining Anthropic:
Tim Abbott, Alya Abbott, Greg Price, and Alex Vandiver
And they are "donating the company" to a new non-profit #Zulip Foundation:
with the first three above as the board (plus Josh Triplett) and "Interim President" Kim Vandiver (notice the same last name as the other person who's joining Anthropic)

was looking into the new Mastodon Collections feature (which Loops is calling Starter Kits)
https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2026/04/designing-collections
and noticed at the bottom of the blog post they mention "We are grateful to GCC for a grant that supported the development of this feature." so I looked up what GCC is and found their announcement from last year
"The Global Chinese Community of Universal Digital Commons donates $75k to Mastodon"

I just discovered that @loops supports unicode handles already! Sadly, I can't even mention the account from Mastodon because Mastodon does not support Unicode in handles https://loops.video/@GrüneGera

@silverpill @weekinfediverse so do you add https://codeberg.org/sindum/fedibook to a wait list? and check back in next month to see if its actually still being worked on?

Slop coded fediverse servers are multiplying I guess we need to start tracking this somewhere!? What happens when there are more AI generated server frameworks then human written ones? The do-ocracy of implementation first protocol inconsistency sorta wins right now but that brakes down when there are more bots making the call then humans
