1️⃣️2️⃣️3️⃣️4️⃣️. By popular demand Phosh can now automatically submit the unlock PIN, so you can skip the submit button. The length is stored in systemd-homed's user record and can be updated it via phosh-pin-tool until the GUI for PIN changing is in place. You can use the on-screen keyboard to unlock with arbitrary length should that ever get out of sync.
If you want to help with the remaining GUI bits let us know.
The initial phrog unlock after boot doesn't know about this yet so remember to hit submit there 🙃️.

Some parts coming together: Chatty receiving push notifications (matrix server ➡️ ntfy server ➡️ phosh-push-distributor ➡️ chatty. The libcmatrix parts are mostly merged (the MR to suspend continuous sync needs review). The Chatty parts are also up for review.

@amartinz tested booting Phosh's BengalOS using OpenABL (so no U-Boot in between) and it worked:

feedback 0.8.10 is out. This one is the first release from the feedbackd group on freedesktop.org. Apart from that it improves support for sdm845 haptics (thanks @okias) and has a minor spec default config update: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/feedbackd/feedbackd/-/releases/v0.8.10 .
Feedbackd has its matrix room at https://matrix.to/#/#feedbackd:phosh.mobi

One gap in the BengalOS image builds was that packages with a higher version number in Debian could accidentally replace packages in BengalOS (unless a developer noticed beforehand) leading to subtle regressions like the #phosh's lock screen taking 10 times longer to lock.
This is now fixed as we track package versions and don't upload now images until this is resolved. The package tracker also gives a nice overview of the versions at play.

This is a great opportunity to help out in small, bite sized bits and it can be done with all levels of technical knowledge:

We just removed the firmware folder in #BengalOS for the #SHIFT6mq. All firmware is now either extracted at runtime (via @mobian 's droid-juicer) or upstream in the linux-firmware package, making it the first device of this kind in our immutable distro images.

Besides improving the overall usability (e.g. enabling support for #cellbroadcast messages or improving camera usability and quality), our #BengalOS images now have wider hardware support by adding several SDM845 based phones like the Google Pixel 3, OnePlus 6 and SHIFT6mq.
You can download them from from https://bengalos.phosh.mobi/.

Some changes in other components:
phosh-first-boot now uses systemd-homed's LUKS backend by default so users get an encrypted home directory without by default, we also add the user to the sudo group by default. Distributions can override the systemd-homed backend and the initial groups when needed.
Phosh file selector allows one to mount network volumes and SD-cards now too:x
gmobile now has support for the Google Pixel 3XL (crosshatch), the Pixel 9 works now and the cutout data for the Fairphone 5 was improved (by redburn).

Stevia's presage completer will now read completion dictionaries from $HOME. This makes it possible for users to add dictionaries on immutable systems too. The new dictionary locations are supported by phosh-osk-data-packager already. We also added an English presage database from a modern corpus (#Wikipedia) which should work better than the one shipped by upstream.
Instead of just sitting there idle, Stevia will now complain loudly when it lacks a Wayland protocol. This helps debugging issues when running against other compositors than Phoc or against older versions.

In Phoc we fixed an issue related to fling gestures that was the primary trigger of session crashes and added initial support for version 2 of the text-input-v3 #Wayland protocol. The later helps with #GTK 4.24. It would otherwise pop out the keyboard too often when only version 1 support is present. There were also two protocol additions around layer-shell related interfaces that we'll make use of in Phosh 0.59.

Phosh's startup tracking improved considerably so that apps that take longer to start (e.g. Flatpaks on devices with slow I/O) no longer produce "Application is slow or failed to start" notifications. The ticket-box plugin got several issues fixed too (by Sparkd).

For the ☕ quick setting one can now select what to inhibit: idle, suspend or both. This is useful on Qualcomm phones that are often configured to not wake up from suspend on phone calls:

Sparkd made the notification that is shown after taking a screenshot actually useful. You can either open the screenshot in an image viewer or open the screenshot folder (video runs at 2x speed)
