on the atmosphere, there is an incentive to implement better functionalities because any user can change service at zero cost; on the fediverse i feel like it's the opposite: there is no real incentive in embracing new software because it's more a risk than anything else and it's not like you can bring your own instance data on another software without costs.

@silverpill oh I thought I posted an obvious thing

The whole atproto is thought more like a market that can allow for competition and so it's always a choice of "should we compete or cooperate"

Obviously this doesn't change the presence of Bluesky as an entity that is gonna try to eat their son... But I bet that the fediverse ethos wouldn't let to be eaten by a corp so easily...

The question is how WE can eat them ahah.
