What might the Social Web Community Group be up to these days?
There are about a dozen (!!) active Task Forces, working on a broad spectrum of protocols, vocabularies, conventions, best practices and the like all centered around the core ActivityPub standard.
To make it easier to find out what those Task Forces are and what they do, we now have a summary table:

The report "ActivityPub Miscellaneous Terms" has now been published as FINAL by the community group, after no objections were raised during the Call for Consensus period.

The report "ActivityPub and HTTP Signatures" was published today.
It documents best practices for how to use HTTP Signatures with ActivityPub.
The content of the report has been available and stable since June 2024, but due to a secretarial error, hadn't been published on the W3C site so far. (Sorry!)
