Well this is absolutely horrifying for all sorts of reasons.

There's a lot of smarter people than I that can articulate why this is as terrible as it is but it's already proven to be entirely ineffective in Australia who did something similar and now gives another "Justification" for the invasive "ID Verification" (A giant target database of your government issued ID pictures more accurately for hackers to try to steal) checks...
