I had same issue, so I use pencil to write notes. But the issue is the pencil often get unreadable overtime  than pen. Feeling "sayang bukunya dicoret-coret" hit hardest sometime and this quite annoying because taking note to book is the best way to pin down idea.

there was a time when I read book along with someone else. at that time I read faster, so I decided to read another chapter while waiting for a chapter review. the moment we did chapter review, I already forget what I want to tell/say...
