The Linux Kernel AI Flood, Linux 7.2 Release & Other August Highlights

It was a very busy month of August with the Linux kernel developers continue to be flooded with AI/LLM-generated patches and bug reports. Plus there was the general resolution on AI usage within the Debian project and other open-source projects now evolving in the AI era. With the Linux 7.2 stable release and Linux 7.3 merge window, the past month was all the more eventful...

EDAC Changes Merged For Linux 7.3 After Being Forgotten About During The Merge Window

While the Linux 7.3 merge window officially closed on Sunday with the Linux 7.3-rc1 release, the Error Detection And Correction "EDAC" subsystem changes were mistakenly forgotten about during the two week window. The pull request ended up being sent out on Monday evening and the late feature changes were already merged to Git...

GoToSocial@gotosocial@gts.superseriousbusiness.org (2026-09-01 19:04:01)
hello nerds, can you help #GoToSocial out with a monthly donation to our OpenCollective?

https://opencollective.com/gotosocial

we're trying to get together an income of a few thousand euros a month to supplement @dumpsterqueer and @kim's work on GoToSocial; currently we're on 1200ish per month, which is amazing, but we'd like to end up around 2400 / month, or ideally more! that will give us a lot more freedom to continue to work on the project full time without having to look in consternation at our bank accounts, and worry about grant money running dry

if we get enough, we can even eventually look at welcoming another developer to the gotosocial treehouse to assist us in pulling bugs off the sloth, combing its hair etc

if you work at a company that would be interested in sponsoring us by sending donations to our OpenCollective, in exchange for a mention / logo on our docs and website, we're very open to that, assuming the company aligns with our ethics (see our code of conduct to get an idea)

to discuss that, you can send an email to admin@gotosocial.org and we'll talk!

please boost and share, thank you so much for your help!

@cheeaun@mastodon.social ez-link card is also stored value. So, the range should be similar before.

I ended up going with #Pachli - https://pachli.app/

No grouped notifications, and the colour scheme isn't quite to my taste - but I can swipe between columns, scrolling is pretty smooth, it supports quote-posts, and registers as a share target on Android.

Might send a few PRs if I can remember how to write Java 😆

@null I guess it’s both side overall. Suica is also stored-value card, so can process faster?

But then maybe they reduce the range for CC to prevent conflict? 🤔

Apart from being faster, Firefox 155 is also the only non-Chromium browser that supports uBlock Origin, as Google removed it entirely yesterday.
