I also noticed that when clicking a DM, it's briefly highlighted in one of the eye-searing new colours too. Because it's brief it's not as bad, but it's still unpleasant.
The status bar (with reply, boost, etc buttons) on selected DMs also has one of the bright purple colours, detailed-status__action-bar should also be overridden (or the actual colour vars changed).
