I wasn't a Briar user but I sympathize with the challenges the developers had with it, particularly on mobile OSes. Push notifications are one of the biggest blockers to p2p gaining traction, especially on iOS.

It was among my backup plans if we can’t keep #Hyphanet afloat (no shutdown planned there, but we’re moving slowly).

@ArneBab fortunately Briar can't shut down since it's a p2p app and the developers are going to continue maintaining what's there, but switching to it now seems unwise because you'll never see improvements.
