Friend of @spritely Zacchaeus showing off Norn, which combines Guix, Shepherd, and Goblins. There's definitely Emacs open with some Scheme code on that laptop screen even though you can't read what it is.

these AI companies routinely make examples of people that resist them and it's unprofessional to throw some frankly mild criticism back? Anthropic is giving Zig the treatment that OpenAI gave Studio Ghibli and Zig is supposed to just say nothing? What Anthropic has done is purely technical but Andrew responding... that's politics! and that's bad!

I had Crispers for the first time when I visited Toronto recently. I thought they were only sold in Canada but it turns out that they are now sold in the US as of April!

On a purely technical level the issue I have with LLMs and ML in general is that you have no clue how to "fix" such a system, because inherently you have no clue how it really works beyond extremely high level parameters, the changing of which influences far too many factors and costs far too much to experiment with.

Just finished reading Robert Jackson Bennett's Divine Cities trilogy. The story takes place in a world that once had several oppressive gods that were killed by the people they enslaved decades prior. The first book, City of Stairs, starts a bit slow but once it picks up it doesn't stop. Was a good way to pass some time while waiting for the next book in the author's Shadow of the Leviathan series to come out. Highly recommended if you like fantasy novels!
