flatpak is kind of the antithesis of what foss distribution should be. devs simply shouldn't be packagers. we've fallen into this pit because of increasingly complicated build systems and the proliferation of language-specific package managers, which have made freedoms 2 and 3 difficult to exercise in practice.

@dthompson, let's not forget that most of them self-publishing packaging systems are ripe for supply chain attacks. It's literally pushing the burden onto end users.
