@olly I love it, but NOT for blogs. I have a hardcore website, with a lot of things on it, but for blog posts it's just too much of a fuss. 

I did do a workaround though, I automagically post the RSS to my website :)

I agree, a service or premade software is definitely better for most people who want to make a blog.

But for a non-blog website, the barrier to entry is quite low, even for a fairly "hardcore indie web" standard.

I guess I'm hardcore indieweb myself on my personal website. It's static, handwritten, and hosted from home. I use Jekyll for my blog, though.

@shannonkay @sylvia My piece was certainly with blogging in mind, for sure, but I think the point still stands for basic websites. I use Jekyll for one of my own sites, pretty complex imo. The point about no dependencies also isn't true since you need a 3rd party web host unless you have an always-on server with a static IP in your closet 🤷‍♂️
