I’m going ahead with this: liking a quote post will automatically like the quoted post and there will be a slightly different like button icon to indicate this behavior in a completely non obvious way

@fedicat is it possible under this system to like a quote post that is not a dunk but happens to respectfully disagree with the quoted post?

(without also liking the disagreed-with message, obviously)

@tully Yes, but why not reply, instead? They're going to get a notification of the quote anyway, if it's mastodon. And just recently I saw one of those, it came off as one of those "with all due respect" followed by insult posts. Anyway, you can always unlike the original post if you really don't want to give them the like, the problem with my setup is that it's not obvious that's what's going on since I don't display the liked/boosted icons in the embedded quoted post.

@tully I may back out if it, currently trying out separate buttons for the quoted post, which is a bit button busy, but addresses the issue of ignoring operations in the original post, plus I’m having the usual swiftui issues getting that double like to update properly
