@tully Yes, but why not reply, instead? They're going to get a notification of the quote anyway, if it's mastodon. And just recently I saw one of those, it came off as one of those "with all due respect" followed by insult posts. Anyway, you can always unlike the original post if you really don't want to give them the like, the problem with my setup is that it's not obvious that's what's going on since I don't display the liked/boosted icons in the embedded quoted post.

@fedicat idk, this just seems like a very …contextually-appropriate feature. one which mostly makes sense within specific social circles.
