@orn_drill@ihatebeinga.live You see tef, fedora gives you btrfs with no other options. As a non-technical person, having only one option is sometimes helpful especially if its like complex subject like filesystems... 🙃

まず対人恐怖になって不登校状態になりますが、メンタル病院になんとか通うために自立支援医療を受けようと親戚にお願いして市役所に行って諸々の手続きを自力でします、みたいなやつからはじまるし、高校を留年した結果大学に入るのは20歳になります、でも家の契約が自分名義でできるので一人暮らしがはじめられます、とか、東京に行ったけど最初の仕事が打ち切られたのでとりあえず自作のWebアプリ作ります、できたけどお金なくなったのでベンチャー企業で働きます、営業同行できますか？のQTEに「ここでいいえはダメそう！」と思って「できます！！」を秒で返します、とか、メンタル崩して友人の家に居候しますが色々あって居候先した家を追い出されて住所不定寸前になります、なんとかマンスリーマンション借りてそこからアパート借り直します、とか

@rio I'd caution btrfs hasn't gone great for quite a few people I know, maybe consider ZFS too if you want something fancy?

Also regarding the snapshot thingy, it seems that Fedora 44 does not come with btrfs snapshots preinstalled and I am absolutely not technically inclined enough to be messing with GRUBs and filesystems (last time I had to mess with that was during Pop!_OS installation and it was not fun:blkzor_jitome_eyes_face:) so I think I'm just gonna be using btrfs as a normal filesystem that fedora gave me (for now anyways)... (also hi Lina! I hope your wedding goes well💝)

ivy uploaded bunch of images, then put tag or label or put them in dedicated folder. the way pinterest has a pin "folder"(?)

idk but maybe you can have browser extension or just a sync in your device where every images will be synced to your immich app. that way, you don't have to manually upload images to your instance for inspo
advanced
automated custom ML tagging. so for example ivy open a pin folder about fire, then it will show recommended images about fire or have similar color or character as fire, which ivy can pin and put them into the folder

I've noticed from the snac(8) manpage that there's some support for Events in snac, and I've seen one post that had an "Event" tag attached to it. what's the current state of ActivityPub Events? are we able to create Events from snac?

I know that immich isn't something initially designed to be something like pinterest alternative, but I need pinterest alternative so bad

For what it’s worth, my current setup has been using btrfs for over a year and a half, and (knock on wood) so far I’ve had no noticeable issue with it.

@rio @elly @twilightkiddy I have been using btrfs on almost all my machines for several years, including daily snapshots for backups and many, many, MANY hard shutdown cycles and other abuse. Zero corruption or issues.
It's fine. It's been fine for quite a few years by now. ext4 is also fine (but doesn't have snapshots which is less convenient for backups).
10 years ago it was different and a lot of people seem to be stuck with that old impression...
