@jae I want to host on I2P too, but I'll need to look into how I could just mirror my existing clearnet sites, if possible. I don't know if that can be very simply done with Nginx or another proxy software, or if I need to use specialized fediverse software, like @mitra who I'm aware are making optimizations for I2P. I'll eventually look into it all. I've had a few attempts at browsing I2P and... well, what can I say about a network which needs to show uptime and downtime like the weather report? People do what they can do.

A question for the Fedi Hivemind:
There's a webcomic I can't remember the name of. x__x I remember coming across it in the mid-late 2000s. It was bright and cartoony and very well drawn; I remember it being hilarious, actual laughing out loud kind of thing. It was short, though, and unfinished.
It took place in a high school, followed a number of different characters. In particular, I remember one of the teachers, a rather nerdy guy, selling his soul to the devil because he was so fed up with the kids or something, and becoming a devil himself; he grew large horns and gained more of a devil-like temper. There was also a rooster? I think? Anyway... hell and fire were some of the major themes.
I know it's not much to go on... I remember it so well, even if I can't remember details or the name of it. Anyone have any ideas what it could have been?

@fionescu glad to see this up and working. the number of gopherholes and gemini capsules is microscopic compared to web, but ive found a lot of good writing and information buried in there. similar to i2p. you don't know until you explore it.

@dansup There's a case to be made either way. There are a lot of accounts, but none of them are human. I don't think nodeinfo gives us a way to say "5 humans and 3 bots" or whatever. Might be worth an extension!

I cleaned up some of the error codes in #tagspub. I was being overprecise about missing headers needed for HTTP Signature -- returning 400 instead of 401 status. They were important specifically for checking the signature, so I changed them to 401. I also fixed a bug where keys that return 410 Gone were causing a 500 error in tags.pub. I changed that to 401, too -- it's not a valid signature if the key is missing. That seems to have helped also!

@dansup why doesn't tags.pub appear on fedidb.com?

@aaa
Is there a roadmap for tinyap, or is this an experiment that will soon get retired?
Evan Prodromou@evan@cosocial.ca (2026-05-29 07:10:18)
@Unixbigot Hi! I'm the main developer of tags.pub. I'm also one of the authors of ActivityPub. I work for the Social Web Foundation, a non-profit created to help make the Fediverse better for everyone. So, no scam.
I think tags.pub is great! The whole point is to make it easier for people to connect to topics they care about here on the Fediverse. I've really enjoyed using it for popular Fediverse-wide tags like #monsterdon or #HashTagGames.

Rust 1.96.0 has been released! 🌈 🦀✨
This release includes assert_matches!(), new range types in core::range::*, and fixes for a medium and a low severity vulnerability in Cargo (that didn't affect crates.io users).
Check out the blog post for details: https://blog.rust-lang.org/2026/05/28/Rust-1.96.0/

@swetland FEP-8b32 implementations use Ed25519:
https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src/branch/main/fep/8b32/fep-8b32.md#implementations
But for HTTP signatures everyone still uses RSA because dominant implementations don't support Ed25519
