@gobino I consider now between two options: Pika and Scribbles.page. I need to read more about both of them. I see that Pika ist the most popular here. Maybe it could be good for me as well. I didn’t decide yet.

I think the idea behind the IndieWeb is still simple. But everyone adds different elements to it and tries to convince others, through words or actions, that their concept is the best.
It’s a bit like a plain notebook, which is fully functional, but someone has decided to turn it into a system for managing every aspect of their life. And they’re trying to force this sort of multi-tool down other people’s throats.

@gobino I have one blog in English and another one old in Polish, but I think I have it by sentiment. I have written only few articles during this year. Perhaps I need to consider whether I really need it and stay with my blog in English.

@purplelime So perhaps the artwork is meant to distract from the taste of the coffee. Maybe that’s why it’s created in cafés. 😅

I’m fed up with all this bickering about how this platform is bad, how you shouldn’t go there, how you’d better avoid that, and how you shouldn’t go in that direction at all. I’d like – just like in the old days – to visit any site on the Internet and feel confident that it’s all right. Not ‘perfect’. Not ‘flawless’. Just fine. I’m facing yet another decision right now. Sigh… Will that ever change?

My monthly subscription was due to expire today. I cancelled it yesterday. I’m wondering what to do next. I didn’t take part in the discussion that led to what happened. But after speaking to a few people who are well-informed on the subject, I realise that I don’t accept everything that has happened either. It’s simply not in line with my values in some respects.

@rishidass I have the same problem. I didn’t take part in the discussion with the creator of this platform that took place here. I know the story second-hand, but certain things are still bothering me and I don’t want to give them any credence. I’m also wondering what to do next.

Yes, there is always a risk, when you use someone else’s platform, that the owner will hold views with which you disagree, or that the platform’s development will take a direction you do not accept.

@brennan I’ve read both. And I still feel as though there’s some piece of knowledge I’m missing that would allow me to understand more, because he’s already spoken at least several times about his own personal understanding of the IndieWeb concept. Why this reaction now, given that people have started leaving Pagecord and its creator has deleted his Mastodon account? Has there been some sort of row here as well?
