Have I missed something? From Brendan’s article, I’ve learnt that Olly, the creator of Pagecord, has deleted his Mastodon account. There’s talk of AI, the philosophy of IndieWeb and so on in all this. What’s gone on here?

I use Ivory about year and I want to expand my subscription from smartphone to smartphone+computer when my subscription period will end. I don’t regret the money I’ve spent.

@paul I wonder how much interest there would be if Apple were to relaunch these devices. Specifically, ones with physical buttons and perhaps a slightly revamped interface.

In my opinion, this sort of internet browsing is like wandering through a forest. And using algorithmic social media is like falling into a raging river.
These are two completely different types of activity.

@liztai No, absolutely not. I just sometimes laugh at myself when I look back on the old days and wonder why I ever thought things could be any different. In my country, for years there was a widespread belief that everything on the internet was free. And I think that was what stopped some people from paying even those few zlotys for their own domain. If someone had their own domain, they were regarded as an internet expert – someone who possessed knowledge that was inaccessible to the general public. And that’s utter nonsense. All it takes is a bit of willingness and curiosity to start reclaiming the internet for yourself.

@liztai You’ve right. I remember myself from the decade. I knew that own domain is the first what I should did but I didn’t it. That was irrational. But human’s mind is sometimes difficult to understand.

@alexandra I created general categories like: articles, notes, photos and weeknotes. It allowed me to let my hair down and gave me a lot of peace of mind.
