🤔 2 cents:
- "Bookmark" saves a *reference* but it gives the impression that you need to organize them later.
- "Save" saves a *copy* but it gives the impression that you can just look it up later.
- Logically, “Save” sounds wrong because saved posts are kinda ephemeral — they can be edited, deleted, reported, etc.
- However, “Save" feels *lighter* than “Bookmark” because it doesn’t require organising them, so there's less friction for users to use it.
Twitter’s “Bookmark” may just be legacy.

@cheeaun One problem I had with "bookmark" is the apple localization glossary has some translations that are the same as for "favorite". I was thinking of switching to "save" earlier but didn't want to confuse mastodon users who see bookmark everywhere else.

@fedicat I think as long as the bookmark icon 🔖 is the same, that's fine?
Technically we already have the "like" vs "favourite" and ⭐ vs ❤️ inconsistencies for the past few years, so adding another one is probably… not a big deal 🤣
Now I'm debating to use "Unsave" or "Remove from Saved" 🤔
