#Fedilab 3.43.0 is available!
It now targets Android 16, with lower memory usage and better stability for long sessions. Timelines load faster with a large cache, and you can set how long cached posts are kept.
Also fixed: voice recording, audio picker, animated GIFs, push on non-Mastodon software, account switching crashes and more.

Cookifed is an Open Source and federated recipe notebook and baking tracker.
Using us, you can keep track of your favorite recipes, plan when you can to cook/bake them, and keep track of each preparation/change you made in the recipe to get better next time.
We are federated over ActivityPub. So you can also share your recipes and bakings with anyone on the fediverse.

For those that haven't noticed (Hopefully most folks), I've updated #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon to the latest Mastodon release tonight. I think for the most part it shouldn't have had any obvious impact other than a short blip on Universeodon while the web server rebooted (I haven't quite had a chance to setup a second web server for Universeodon yet!).
I think we've got the process of upgrades working a lot better and keeping in-step with the releases has been a lot easier than it was!

The Mastodon web app has subtly changed the way their advanced interface works w/r/t seeing my own replies and I am now doing my bi-yearly "Are there other interfaces I might like better?" quest. Really pining for the Tweetdeck of yore (with an option for more columns). Anyone got one that they like?
Note: not looking for iOS apps, just the web app.

The FEP now includes the recommended algorithm parameters.
I consider it finished but I don't plan to continue working on my implementation or publishing to the main FEP repository. It would be better to focus on group messaging with forward secrecy (MLS or similar).

Anyone have the TL;DR; on self hosted fediverse software?
Mastodon vs Snac vs Pleroma vs ?
I'm looking for something that is super low maintenance and lightweight / easy on resources but as full featured as practical within those constraints.
Something easy to tune re: post lengths and media types would be cool too. A "text first" platform is desired.
I've run Mastodon in the past and it's like fishing with nukes for this use case.
What's out there?

Today, I spent a long time trying to understand why the in-app translator using #LibreTranslate was still being abused.
I took drastic measures, because legit translations were stuck in the queue behind the abusers (now they are quick). But these measures also kicked out people using the API without abusing it. So please DM us if you're affected.

We just released Mastodon 4.6.4, 4.5.14 and 4.4.21.
Those updates include multiple security fixes, including fixes for two major issues.
We encourage server administrators to update as soon as possible, as one of the issues can expose PII of local users. We are investigating potential uses of this exploit and will soon share more information.

Just a reminder that a lot of these new Loops features we've worked hard on will be coming to Pixelfed later this year.
Starter Kits/Collections, Group Chats and proper threaded comments are the big ones, and we're also refactoring the backend to fix tons of bugs you've reported and make the whole experience more stable and frictionless.
Once @dansup gets back from FediCon, he plans to spend August preparing the new mobile app (Android + iOS) and web UI for release.
It will be worth the wait!

It will be mirroring repositories related to the #Mitra project. I don't plan to migrate from Codeberg right now, but it wouldn't hurt to have a self-hosted instance in case they decide to enforce the new anti-crypto policy.
