But in Fediverse, attachment is not supposed to be an object, it's an array.
I don't think you should expect people to comply with your vision of ActivityPub.

@steve @benpate Bring Your Own Domain is when you use your own domain for IDs/WebFinger while someone else hosts an instance (software). This means an instance will have more than one domain attached to it.

@steve @benpate @takahe I've read your explanation in https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/pulls/835/files but I still don't get the difference between multitenancy and BYOD. It seems that BYOD is just a special case of multitenancy where tenant == user.

there are now 3 open weight models that are reaching the quality of the closed ones (GLM-5.1, Kimi 2.6, Deepseek V4). There are two more that can write actually good code and small enough to run locally (Gemma 4, Qwen 3.6). This is not going away, no matter if OpenAI and Anthropic survive or not.

@taoeffect Mitra is a server, but Mitra Mini is a client. The features I am most interested in require a client: it can work offline, and you don't need to share secret keys with servers.
They are not totally separate, though. More than 90% of code is shared, so Mitra benefits from Mitra Mini development and vice versa.

@jupiter_rowland @valorzardI mean, @silverpill had to implement nomadic identity on Mitra client-side. That wouldn't be possible on MastodonI think they can do the same thing I did - rebuild server as a client. It would be a pain to package though, given that Mastodon is written in Ruby.

However, @jonny wants to implement FEP-1580: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/12423#issuecomment-4247163209
FEP-1580 doesn't introduce decentralized identities, but it enables data migrations and is easier to implement. It might pave the way for FEP-ef61 in the future.

@mczachurski @pfefferle FEP-ee3a was approved. It is now stored in the FEP repository with the DRAFT status, you can update it with another PR if you want.
At some point it should be finalized, but usually this happens after an author incorporates feedback from a discussion thread and convinces at least one other developer to implement the proposal.

@phnt @p Curiously, Gleason was supportive of the proposal, although at the time he already moved to Nostr (IIRC).
Also, some strange things started to happen in the aftermath of closing that PR. I started seeing vague posts expressing moderation concerns on Codeberg and SocialHub (in this thread, for example: https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/scope-of-the-socialhub-policy/3506). People suddenly started talking about adding a CoC, etc etc. But every time I asked what this is about, there was silence.

@p This is a good analysis, and I can confirm that there is indeed some coordination between the organizations and people you mentioned. I wouldn't call it a conspiracy, though. I know some of them well enough to conclude that it is a not a single organization, but a loose group. Some of them seem to be fake, but others seem to be sincere in their convictions.

This is a draft of a FEP about mandatory CSAM scanning. As one of the FEP repo maintainers, I immediately raised concerns about privacy, centralization, etc. That made me persona non grata at W3C.

An interesting development happens in funfedidev/schemas project. It's a JSON schema validator for Fediverse:

@caohuak Mastodon's "consent-respecting" quoting. I added partial support for it in the last Mitra release, so now it shows "Post pending" instead of no quote at all.
