@bstn Right now I just run a system that works for me, but I'll try to abstract a system that is easy to start, easy to use and as low budget as possible (relying on free services and components) and OSS so anyone can just adopt it to their needs. But this will take some more weeks. Its just as side project right now.

@bstn I personally trust Herman, but I'll get your point. Thats why I decided to own the full stack, my website, my Fediverse instance and the Bluesky PDS. This comes with a price (money is comparable low, but time invest is not).
Static file generates are not that hard to use. They usually come with templates you can use. But they are not that easy to use either. I currently build a Open Source frontend that can be in front of any static file generator to simplify publishing content, as I do find that this is the hardest thing to deal with these kind of systems (though things such as Pages CMS exist and do a great job, I still find them to complex).

# Pachli 3.8.1 is released
This release contains translation updates only, as I get a lot less done working remotely in the middle of a European heatwave. Normal service will resume in September.
Languages with updated translations are:
- Finnish by @kallekn
- Indonesian by Arif Budiman

My thanks to everyone who contributed to this release, and apologies to anyone I missed.

@rene Maybe. But what will we hear in time about the creator of Bear? Perhaps nothing bad. I’m not even referring directly to him. My point is that there’s never any guarantee that we won’t find out something about the owner of a particular platform or their working methods that will turn our worldview on its head.
I’ve never used a static site generator before. I don’t know if I’d be able to manage as a complete novice with only a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.

@bstn Bear Blog? At least from my understanding. Else use a static file generator and throw the final html, css and media files on any web server you prefer?
Sebastian@bstn@social.lol (2026-08-26 05:27:20)
I wonder whether anything other than running a blog on your own infrastructure (your own server at home) is really in line with the full definition of the IndieWeb.
After all, someone who hosts blog might be using a data centre that utilises an LLM or something like that. In that case, I suppose we’re not quite dealing with a pure IndieWeb.
Am I wrong? I’m not sure what to make of it all anymore, given the stories described here over the last few days.
How can one unequivocally identify a platform that’s free from any such constraints, yet isn’t just a small server sitting on your desk?

My plan for the evening was to go to my local hackspace and work on some Fediverse software development, but instead I spent two hours talking to people from a local free theatre. Are there already performances that use the Fediverse for interaction or as part of the performance?

Wayland Found To Be "Intrinsically Faster Than X11, But Not Necessarily More Efficient"
The PorteuX Linux distribution focused on being a high performance, modular, and minimalist distro took to forking Xfce's xfwm4 window manager into "xfwm4-gl" for OpenGL compositing support. As part of that they developed a window manager / compositor benchmark for evaluating the performance and efficiency of typical operations. Their results are fascinating...

🇬🇧 FediMeteo is also available in the UK.
If you live in the UK and would like to have the local weather forecast directly in your Fediverse timeline, have a look at FediMeteo.
Each supported place has its own account, so you can simply follow the one nearest to you and get the forecast without installing another app or visiting another website.
It is a small project, built around the Fediverse and open standards, and new places are being added over time.

If you find it useful, feel free to follow, boost, or tell someone else about it. That is probably the best way to help more people discover it.
