The letter is shared under a #CC0 license. Feel free to copy, adapt and send it to organizations that still rely on #BigTech.

The European Commission @EUCommission now lists #Mastodon as first social media channel in their page footer [1] (The Twitter/X logo is now gone ;). And on the EU website you can now filter for Mastodon social media accounts [2].

In the streams repository a few years back, we implemented a mechanism where "site actors" could follow each other, and this would result in sharing local public content with selected other sites, regardless of personal connections between actors. This scales so you can build small or large "clusters" or cooperating servers. The keyword being that this is server sharing which is "consent" based.
There was little or no interest in this ability from anybody, so the feature languished. I think it's still implemented, but there's no motivation to pursue it further. I'll just mention it if somebody else feels like dying on hills today.

@adele suggested that #gotosocial was a good replacement for the classic blog, as:
1) gotosocial allows #markdown formatting in posts.
2) the maximum post length can be adjusted above the default 5000 using statuses-max-chars in gotosocial's config.yaml
What this actually means for the #fediverse I'm not sure, as it could break things. If anyone has any deeper info on this I'd love to know.

It seems as if you can only add at most 25 people (accounts) to a Mastodon Collection.
Having Mastodon Collections is awesome!
But, a 25 account limit makes certain types of list tough.

It has been in the works for months, but the recent increase of downtime has accelerated work. We've moved from Caddy to HAProxy for codeberg.org traffic.
Starting over with a new reverse proxy has enabled us to make choices that enable us to set up HAProxy to scale with our increasing traffic. For example, traffic is split (when possible, decided via heuristics) over several instances to load balance expensive traffic.
We hope to share more details at a later time about this change.

@silverpill @xaetacore @Saorsa yeah we don't know why they're using a proprietary JSON instead of using the outbox.json that every other software uses.
