thanks for the tag, I hadn't seen that. A very good article! It's a telling point that "Honestly, my anxiety and mental health since shutting down our server has drastically improved."
On the one hand, Mastodon's community focus makes a lot of sense given its potential strengths. On the other hand, looking at who has the money to host their own non-tiny communities -- or pay to have them hosted -- could also reinforce the cultural monolithism the article talks about. So, we shall see.
