Now that the ATmosphere has some more nodes on it, the big reason given for not using ActivityPub, missing replies, turns out to be also a problem on the ATmosphere.

All stuff I called out as being likely to be challenges, it's just that the ATmosphere (Bluesky etc) didn't have enough decentralization happening yet.

In fact, it's going to be harder to get this right on the ATmosphere as more full nodes appear, because the fediverse has an *imperfect* mechanism with directed delivery (with some improvements in spec for the server at the top of the thread helping to share replies it's seen, and other implementation such as Mastodon have also added good features like reply-fetching, so this isn't even a big complaint you see from users anymore). But the shared heap architecture doesn't have that.

ATproto *could add* addressing and directed delivery, and I believe to address these issues, will have to.

Phoronix@phoronix@masto.ai (2026-08-30 01:39:06) Another x86 Advisory From Some Entity Other Than Intel Or AMD

Last October I highlighted an interesting post on the Linux kernel mailing list around an x86 corporate entity other than Intel or AMD that left mysterious intrigue. The developer that detailed those x86 opcode/CPUID/MSR allocations back in July then detailed 16-tile and 32-tile AMX implementations again for something outside the current scope of Intel/AMD processors. Today another message is being relayed fr…

Bryan L. Fordham@Bfordham@infosec.exchange (2026-08-30 01:38:25) I've loved #Debian for years. Decades, really. The main reason for that is it's always seemed, to me, to be the best place to actually control and own your own computer.

That trust is gone for me. We can talk responsible, not responsible, whatever. The fact is, LLMs are trained on the hard work of billions of people, and put into a blender and sold back to us. It's more separation of workers from the fruit of their labors, to the profit of capitalists.

That's not even getting into the environmental impacts, the bias in it, etc. And especially not getting into the horrible, HORRIBLE people in charge of it all.

I do not want that on my laptop, folks. I just don't.
