Apple releases iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate 27 with Siri “AI” and Liquid Glass refinements
Apple releases its yearly cluster of operating system updates today, with the two most prominent of course being macOS and iOS/iPadOS. These new versions focus heavily on Apple's "AI" stuff, but there are a few actual improvements and changes to the actual operati

Switching to GNU Guix: a beginner’s perspective
Want to run something a little more exotic on your server? How about GNU Guix?
It has been a month since migrating my home server to GNU Guix. Managing OS state declaratively through Git has eliminated configuration drift, and Guile Scheme provides a cohesive environment that complements Emacs. While adapting to a smaller package ecosystem

The BeBox: one of the most beautifully overbuilt computers of the 1990s
Late 2000. There is a grey and blue tower PC on my dorm-room desk like nothing anybody who walks into the room has ever seen. The Be logo on the front, a 3.5″ floppy peeking out the bottom of the drive bays, and the vertical grille that hides two columns of green LEDs (blinkenlights) dancing with

Users, now you can try the redesigned UI that Mastodon is preparing for 5.0 at https://next.masto-fe.gotosocial.social
The redesigned UI is mostly usable, but it's still not finished and is under active development. I won't be following the updates closely, this is just to have a peek in advance.

@birming I don’t write English perfectly either, and I often help myself in various ways, because I’m not always able to express my thoughts correctly in English. I don’t worry about it and try to write in Polish first, and then in English, and I help myself if I have a problem. I’m still learning English and will probably continue to learn the language for many years to come (perhaps even until I die). It’s quite fun. I’ve some benefits from it every day.
If I hadn’t started blogging in English, I wouldn’t have rediscovered the blogosphere, because in my country blogging is an extremely niche activity. It’s completely different from how it was years ago.

Stop asking why you're so lazy about the thing you keep avoiding.
Instead, ask what you're afraid it will say about you if you actually did it.
That question moved me further than any productivity system I've built.

Released a new version of my *ten-year-old* to-do app side project. Integrates with the new iOS 27 AppIntents reminders schema for better Siri integration. And has a new app icon :)
And it’s currently FREE to celebrate iOS 27 release day!!
