KDE developer takes a look at COSMIC
KDE contributor and developer Niccolò Venerandi has published an article about COSMIC, System76's brand new desktop environment.
It's been almost a year since I've last tried COSMIC; though development since then has mostly been centered around stability (going from late alpha to stable releases now!) there have been a fair bit of user-facing chan

@apps I think you should work in the style that best suits you, there are a lot of advice givers, not as many creators and contributors. I've created a lot of quick apps just because I felt like it, and I've found as long as there was a particular reason or vision for that app, someone else would like it (even if a lot of people didn't, but that's life on the app stores). There are only a few that I kept dabbling for the long term, up to ten years, that seems to be my limit, fedicat is in year 3

I decided to take a break, because coding became a competition with myself, releasing quickly to satisfy people using #Fedilab and my other projects.
But that is the trap. I gave a lot, hoping people would keep enjoying my projects.
I was looking at it the wrong way. People here are not waiting for results. Building fast and creating things before even suggesting them is not how it works. I should have understood it sooner :)
Definitely taking that break.

Canonical Reaffirms Plans For Ubuntu 27.04 To Use ntpd-rs By Default
Back in March Canonical announced switching to ntpd-rs was its next target as part of transitioning more Ubuntu Linux system components to Rust-based implementations. This time synchronization package is available for testing in the upcoming Ubuntu 26.10 release while it aims to be the default for Ubuntu 27.04...

We are making good progress on Desktop support for Pixelix. Today we were able to package the app as Flatpak.
Now we are making the app responsive so it also looks good on larger screens.
Once that is done we will publish Pixelix as Flatpak for Linux and as WebApp.

'90年代ってHDDの容量がまだ少なかったから、CD-ROMは新しいことが安く実現できる革命的な大容量メディアといふ扱ひだった。今では死語になったけど当時は「マルチメディア」といふ言葉をよく見掛けてね、それがCD-ROMによって実現できる時代なんだ、みたいな。
でも個人的にはいちいちCD-ROM入れないと使へない百科辞典や辞書ソフトを常用する気にはならなかったねぇ。なんか面倒くさいぢゃん。

Meta Engineer's Linux Patches For Boosting AMD P-State / Steam Deck Gaming Performance
Back in July I wrote about AMD P-State driver patches boosting 1%-low frame rates for gaming by as much as 31%. That work was done by David Vernet who is a Linux kernel engineer/hacker at Mesa. This week Vernet presented on the topic at the Linux Plumbers Conference happening in Prague...
