Enby Admin@admin@enby.life (2026-05-17 11:14:10) Enby.Life will be releasing and deploying a patched version of Campfire fork after this security update drops. As a reminder - we have already applied non-code mitigations to protect Enby.Life users, but Campfire itself is generally vulnerable. Any instances running our fork or custom branches should prepare to update as well. We will also be rotating all Enby.Life users's ActivityPub Actor keys before the update as a precaution.

Reply to @silverpill@mitra.social Slumbering Cat Productions@slumberingcat@calckey.world (2026-05-17 09:36:54) @silverpill@mitra.social I was doing something similar on Codeberg recently. Though I haven't published it yet.

I went with Quartz because I'm working on something docs focused and like you I didn't want to make editing my markdown a chore (adding shortcode) so they'd look better on a website. It wasn't quite out of the box, had a little bit of tinkering to get it looking right but I like it so far.

I went with Grebadoc which uses git-pages as well and Foregjo Actions to deploy. Ultimately pretty happy with how it all works.

Codeberg/git-pages is shaping up really well to replace Github Pages for projects that need it.

Sharkey - Official Account@sharkey@sharkey.team (2026-05-17 09:08:05) This is your official notice that we'll be making a major security release for Sharkey on the 20th of May, 2026, between 2026-05-20T13:00:00.000Z and 2026-05-20T15:00:00.000Z. Prepare to update immediately upon release. If you are unable to update your instance at the given time, take it offline before the release.

Accept.object.id is not a real Follow activity ID.

Reply to @mariusor@metalhead.club silverpill@silverpill@mitra.social (2026-05-17 06:37:09) @mariusor That's possible.

@target-uri is supposed to be an absolute URI. HTTP servers typically re-construct full URI using the Host and other headers. For example, I use this method: https://docs.rs/actix-web/latest/actix_web/dev/struct.ConnectionInfo.html#method.host

Hostname is resolved through the following, in order:
Forwarded header
X-Forwarded-Host header
Host header
request target / URI
configured server hostname

If I don't configure my reverse proxy to set these headers, the full URI will be incorrect, leading to verification failure.

I thought the space is self-explanatory, but maybe I am wrong.

Never seen this feature in other fedi clients.

>I can imagine a "minimal" server that implements c2s but almost no UX of its own though.

AKA generic ActivityPub server:

https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src/branch/main/fep/fc48/fep-fc48.md

I think it's a cool concept, but nobody knows how well it will work in practice.

ozoned@ozoned@btfree.social (2026-05-17 05:34:08) I talk about the #Fediverse whenever I get a chance. The trick is being receptive, not pushy. Let them try it in their own time.

Only saying this because I now have two long time friends actively participating in the Fediverse where 6 months ago they had no interest.

One was even using an app with AP integration and didn't even know it.

Anecdotal? Absolutely! But our reality is built on our perceptions.

Very excited by this! 😄

https://ap-next.codeberg.page/ap-next/guide.html

I did that mainly to experiment with the stack:

- Marmite, a static site generator written in Rust. Not perfect, but it's the only one that just worked and didn't make me change the directory layout or add extra information to markdown files.
- New Codeberg Pages service, which uses git-pages instead of the deprecated pages-server.
- Forgejo Actions, which came out of beta recently. Unlike Woodpecker CI, actions didn't require extra configuration steps. Deployment from an action to Codeberg Pages is very easy: https://docs.codeberg.org/codeberg-pages/forgejo-actions/

Todd Sundsted@toddsundsted@epiktistes.com (2026-05-17 05:13:11) how widely adopted/supported/implemented is FEP-8a8e? is that a safe direction to converge for federated events?

Auster@Auster@thebrainbin.org (2026-05-17 04:08:32) Are people backing up the fediverse?

#fediverse

Most fediverse platforms are run by common users, not entities with either monetary, commercial, political or geopolitical interests to keep the platforms alive. But that also means the instances could disappear when money gets tight, if the interest dies out, if there are technical difficulties that are hard to deal with, etc.

This brings me to the opening question, are people taking at least what they find relevant from the fediverse, and backing it up on web archival services, or at least backing up locally as screenshots, HTML/MHTML files, etc., so if their instance or the propagated contents die, at least there is a register the content ever existed?
