#Fedilab 4.43.0 clearly improved memory leak issues. The remaining ones come from the ExoPlayer library, which I need to upgrade (a lot of work because I delayed it). This is the library that plays videos and animated GIFs (MP4) in your timeline if you've enabled the option.

- The items in the affiliations collection are now required to be full Relationship objects with id, attributedTo and object properties. I think these objects should be self-contained and exist independently of the collection.
- Access to the collection MAY be limited (for example, when the group is private).

nicolium will now let you add a 'Compose' deck column, which you can also use for replying/quoting instead of the default modal behavior. you can also pin the leftmost deck column, the option was made with compose column in mind but works with a cat pics hashtag column as well

Private groups
Lately, I've been seeing various people claiming that fediverse doesn't have private groups. They often point to some task force at w3c that is supposedly working to fill the gap.
However, fediverse has had private groups for a very long time:
- Hubzilla channels. This project probably had private groups before ActivityPub. The implementation was later adapted for ActivityPub and refined in subsequent forks, Streams and Forte. It is now partially documented in FEP-171b: Conversation Containers.
- Smithereen groups. This implementation is documented in FEP-400e: Publicly-appendable ActivityPub collections (published in 2021) and FEP-db0e: Authentication mechanism for non-public groups.
- Lemmy communities. Private groups were proposed in Lemmy RFC 0005 and have been implemented in the development version. There is a test instance running this version (Lemmy v1.0b) at https://voyager.lemmy.ml/
There are probably other implementations that I am not aware of.

Hello! First time submitting a FEP myself. This one is for a feature Mastodon has had since July 2024, which is fairly popular among bloggers and journalists.
Often, the author of a website is present on the social media platform where the links to the website are being shared. However, usually there is no quick way to navigate to the author's social media profile from the link preview. Being able to navigate to the social media profile of a website's author from that website's link preview is a win-win situation for the author and for the platform. This FEP defines a new meta property fediverse:creator which can appear in the section of any website.

The relay https://relay.toot.io, and indeed any Activity-Relay service that uses the up-to-date version 2.0.11, now works correctly with GoToSocial:

If anyone is still having trouble connecting to services running the Activity-Relay software, you can:
Gently poke the admins of those relays to update to v2.0.11, which is the only version currently that works with GtS.
Then as GtS admin you can then try removing all previously-created connections to the relay (pushes and subscriptions), and recreating them in order to re-send the Follow activity. You should receive an accept within a few seconds if all goes well.
If you want posts to actually show up on the federated timeline of your instance, don't forget to either tick "match posts by default" when creating the subscription, or create appropriate relay matchers to pick which posts you want your instance to store + timeline.

At last! I've added real OAUTH support (entirely in the browser, so I don't need to process any credentials on the server) to https://moderation-explorer.online/ .
This tool shows you how the people you follow, and that follow you, are spread out over the Fediverse, and explains how moderation works. In advanced mode (using OAUTH, now) it'll show you stats from your actual timeline.
